Wareham Gatemen Youth Clinics Begin in Acushent

Jun 11, 2022

The Wareham Gatemen began their string of youth baseball clinics this morning! Children ages 6-17 are invited to learn from Gatemen coaches and players throughout the summer. These clinics are a great opportunity to learn from the best college players in the country and future major leaguers!

Team members made their way to Pope Park in Acushnet to put on the first clinic for Fairhaven Acushnet Youth Baseball, enjoying a morning of fun with FAYB players. Stations were set up all around the diamond, with Gatemen players posted at each, focusing on different aspects of baseball. FAYB players gained experience in fielding ground balls and pop-ups, pitching, working in the outfield and more.

Clinic attendees are not the only ones getting to enjoy the day and share in the fun. Gatemen Infielder Max Anderson enjoys putting on clinics and spending time with the children. “The kids having a smile on their face and them having fun – it makes you feel good,” Anderson said.

At tomorrow’s opening night game, starting pitcher Mike Sansone will take the mound for the Gatemen. During this first clinic of the summer, Sansone assisted in the pitching station, sharing his expertise with local youth.

“Working with the kids and getting to teach them a little bit about baseball is always good. As we go on, it should get a little more fun, adding whiffle ball. It’s always fun to do that with the kids,” Sansone said.

Learning how to pitch seems to be a fan favorite for many of the clinic attendees. At the post-clinic huddle with the coaches, attendees and Gatemen players, many children mentioned that to be their favorite part of the day.

Come see for yourself! Have fun with your friends and the team this summer at the Wareham Gatemen Clinics! More information on youth clinics available on Gatemen’s social media pages and gatemen.org.
