The number of new cases of Covid-19 is holding steady in Dartmouth.

The state’s Department of Public health confirmed a slight increase of cases in town, with 113 reported over the past two weeks — up eight from the state’s previous weekly report.

According to state data, Dartmouth had a 14-day average daily incidence rate remained at 21.8 per 100,000 people, while the positivity rate rose slightly to 4.43%.

The state also reported 11 cases across all six of Dartmouth’s public schools between Nov. 4 and 10 — ten students and one staff member.

The Centers for Disease Control announced last week that children between the ages of 5 and 11 are now eligible to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations. Children are only eligible for the Pfizer-BioNTech shot.

Parents and caregivers of young children can make an appointment with their pediatrician for their child to get vaccinated, or use the state’s vaxfinder.mass.gov tool to find other locations offering vaccines for children. 

Clinics in Dartmouth offering vaccines for kids include the North Dartmouth Walmart located at 506 State Road and the Stop & Stop at 25 Faunce Corner Road.

Southcoast health will also provide Pfizer doses for kids aged 5-11, along with booster shots and third dose clinics, at the former VF Outlet located at 375 Faunce Corner Road. Patients can book their shots by signing up through their MyChart account or by visiting www.southcoast.org/covid-19-vaccine-scheduling. Walk-ins are also welcome.

According to state data, 5% of kids aged 5-11 — 119 people — have gotten a first dose since last week’s CDC approval.

Local public health experts continue to encourage people to get the vaccine as soon as possible — and the state is now offering in-home vaccinations for those unable to get to a vaccination site.

As of Nov. 12, the state reports that 61% of Dartmouth residents have received at least a first vaccination dose. That amounts to 22,634 people. More than half of all residents — 54% — are fully vaccinated against the virus.

In-home vaccinations can be scheduled by calling (833) 983-0485, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. English and Spanish speaking staff are on hand, and have access to translators for over 100 languages. In-home vaccinations are performed by medical professionals following public health guidelines and tailored to the needs of the patient. 

In-home vaccinations are performed using the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, except for those ages 12 to 17, who would be offered the Pfizer vaccine. Scheduling is based on location, rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.

The state has also set up a call center for those who are unable to access the vaccine appointment website or who have trouble navigating the complex online system.

From 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, people can call 211 and navigate to the vaccine help line by pressing one when prompted. The call center has workers on staff who speak English and Spanish, and there are translators available to support residents in about 100 additional languages.

The Covid-19 vaccine is free, and individuals do not need insurance or an ID to get the vaccine.
