Dancing at the Residence at Cedar Dell
The Residence at Cedar Dell welcomed the dancers from the Illusions Academy of Dance and 30 students from the Dartmouth High School Orchestra on Saturday, Dec. 6 for a dance and musical performances.
The dancers ranged from ages five to 19, and the dancers performed ballet, tap and jazz routines while the orchestra played music for the residents.
“Each routine was met with heartfelt applause as the dancers brought grace and energy to our afternoon — creating moments of pure joy and intergenerational connection,” said Ellie Fernandez, the resident engagement director at the Residence at Cedar Dell.
Music and intergenerational events are important because it can lower risk of issues like dementia and loneliness, and improve memory, according to a study in the National Library of Medicine.
“We are so grateful to these amazing young performers for bringing such incredible energy, talent, and joy to our residents. Intergenerational moments like this are truly special and create memories that last a lifetime,” said Fernandez.
