Dartmouth was represented in the Boston Marathon

The 130th Boston Marathon was a record breaking one, with John Korir of Kenya breaking the course record by more than two minutes, but Korir and the other elite runners weren’t the only ones to take on the race.

Five runners from Dartmouth joined the over 30,000 athletes from around the world for the  Monday, April 20 race. 

Patricia Baptise, age 47, placed 891 in her division and 17,377 overall. It took her 3:41:16. 

Steven Plourde, age 38, placed 5,616 in his division and 27,787 overall. It took him 5:23:23 to cross the finish line. 

Bridget Markey, age 21, placed 4,690 in her division and 24,427 overall. It took her 4:27:38 to complete the race. 

Julie Marshall, age 33, placed 2,961 in her division and 13,469 overall. She finished the race in 3:25:42. 

Matthew Medeiros, age 33, placed 5,550 in his division and 27,148 overall. It took him 5:01:46 to finish. 

Medeiros raised $34,521 for Boston's Children Hospital to fund research into childhood illnesses. 

Medeiros ran with the Credit Union Kids, since he began in 2019 . He met Vrah Purohit, now 14, who has cerebral palsy and a history of seizures. The pair share a “very great bond,” according to Bhavina Hirapara, Vraj’s mother.
