Join local author Ben Shattuck on Thursday, Dec. 12 for a discussion of his new book, “The History of Sound.” The book is a collection of interconnected stories set in New England and explores the unexpected ways the past returns and how love and loss are entwined and transformed over generations.

The event will start at 4 p.m. at the Dartmouth North Branch Library at 211 Cross Road.

Copies of “The History of Sound” will be available for purchase at the event, which was organized by the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries.

The presentation is free and open to the public.
