The Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries will host a talk on the modern seafood industry on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the North Branch Library.

The talk will be hosted by area author Nicholas Sullivan.

Sullivan is a senior research fellow at The Fletcher School at Tufts University. His new book, “The Blue Revolution: Hunting, Harvesting, and Farming Seafood in the Information Age,” examines the transformation of commercial fishing in the 21st century, with a special focus on New England as a model for the fishing industry in the United States and beyond.

During the presentation, Sullivan will highlight New Bedford’s own “Codfather” as the epitome of an old-fashioned industry that is being modernized to protect habitat and fish stocks while improving quality and choice for consumers.

The presentation will be held in the Suzanne E. McDonald community room of the North Branch library located at 211 Cross Road.
