Mirasol’s Cafe has announced it will remain closed this weekend through Monday, Nov. 23 due to a staff member testing positive for Covid-19.

The shutdown was originally announced in a Facebook message on Wednesday evening and planned for just one day, Nov. 19.

But the popular eatery noted in an update posted to Facebook on Thursday that the closure would continue through the weekend “to take the extra precautionary steps to ensure a safe environment here at the cafe.”

The original announcement stated “We are taking extreme precautions to ensure the safety of other staff members, their families, our customers, and the rest of the community by closing the café for a deep sanitization of the building even though the case did not stem from the café.”

New opening hours for the upcoming week — operated by a small crew who had limited contact with the employee  will be posted soon, the business stated, adding that regular hours will likely resume Saturday, Nov. 28.

“This timeline is required and has been approved by the Town of Dartmouth Board of Health and will allow for the necessary quarantine period of all staff members who may have come in contact with the staff member who tested positive,” the statement read. “Thank you all for your continuous support and understanding while we guarantee a safe environment for us all.”
