New gas station, convenience store and drive thru proposed for Faunce Corner Road
A three-component project that would feature a gas station, convenience store and drive thru has been proposed for the former Rose Motors property at 411 Faunce Corner Road.
On Thursday, Nov. 13, attorney Mark Bobrowski, who is representing 411 Faunce Corner LLC, came before the Zoning Board of Appeals to present the proposed project, which would be located on a 18.91 acre lot.
The gas station would have five gas pumps and one diesel pump. The drive thru would serve coffee but a store name wasn’t given.
According to Bobrowski, the project wouldn’t have a noticeable effect on traffic flow because the majority of customers would be people already driving by.
“Nobody’s making this as a destination trip,” he said. “They’re just on the road. They see the opportunity, they stop.”
Zoning Board of Appeals clerk Halim Choubah agreed with Bobrowski’s assessment on traffic conditions.
He noted that gas stations aren’t traffic destinations and said “people don’t drive from town to town looking for a gas station.”
He added that the majority of people stopping at the property would likely be people going to and from Hawthorn Medical Associates.
Choubah said the project could also potentially help alleviate some traffic near Route 6 intersection because people would have what could be a more convenient location for gas and coffee.
This project will come before the Zoning Board of Appeals again at their next meeting on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m.
