Saltworks Carriage House to hold centennial celebration

The Saltworks Carriage House is celebrating its 100th year during Columbus Day Weekend. The building, which is currently owned by painter Sandra Hall, has served many purposes throughout its existence.

The weekend event will include an art exhibition from Hall, Beverly Carter and Dick Hilker.

The celebration kicks off on Friday, Oct. 9 with wine and birthday cake. The reception runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The exhibition hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 10 and 11. The studio will also be open on Monday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Saturday, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Ellen P. Flynn will be providing a demonstration on Ikenobo Ikebana, or Japanese floral art.

Historical information about the Carriage House will also be on exhibit throughout the weekend. The historical information will be provided by the Halls and by the Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society.

A percentage of sales from the weekend will be donated to the Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society.
