Friends Academy to host talk on Effective Discipline for Children 2-12

Who among us has not worried that we were raising our children correctly? Who has not wondered how to discipline, set limits, and have the hard conversations?
On Wednesday, March 29, at 6:30 in the Commons at 1088 Tucker Road, North Dartmouth, Friends Academy hosts Dr. Thomas Phelan, author of, 1-2- 3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12, which has sold almost two million copies and is now in its 6 th edition. This is the second in a two-part Speaker Series that is focused on the health and wellness of the whole child. It is free and open to the public.
Dr. Phelan and his wife of 45 years raised two children and experienced first-hand many of the problems he now helps parents tackle. A clinical psychologist who has worked with children, parents, and teachers for over 35 years, he will discuss effective parenting tools to raise children in the 21st century. Dr. Phelan is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Illinois Psychological Association and has also served on the boards of directors for both ADDA and CHADD, two ADHD international support groups. He maintains an active schedule of international lectures, and is a frequent guest on radio and television. His articles appear in numerous regional and national publications.
A question and answer period will follow Dr. Phelan’s presentation. His books will be available for purchase and signing. From 6:00-6:30, tours of the Friends Academy will be available.
