The Lloyd Center for the Environment is proud to welcome two educators/naturalists to the Center’s Education / Outreach Services Department.

Steve Theberge has returned to the Lloyd Center for the Environment as an Educator/Naturalist. Steve was born and raised on the south coast of Massachusetts where he worked his way through college digging and selling Quahogs. He received a BS in Fisheries Biology at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and an MS in Biology (Coastal Zone Studies) from the University of West Florida.

Early in his career Steve was employed as a Senior Instructor at the Lloyd Center under Dr. Alan Hankin. Since then he has shared his passion for the world of water as an environmental educator and fisheries biologist in a wide range of organizations from New England to Florida to Oregon. He served as the Education Specialist at Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (RBNERR) in Naples, FL, where he designed, coordinated, and taught on-site marine biology and environmental science field trips for local public schools, colleges and universities, and the general public. Following RBNERR, Steve worked on commercial and recreational fisheries issues, specializing in reducing bycatch mortality in non-target species as a Sea Grant Extension Agent in Oregon and Florida for nine years. He received Oregon’s Epsilon Sigma Phi Gamma Chapter Early Career Service Award for his collaborative research with fishers and other stakeholders while a Sea Grant faculty member in Oregon States University’s Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Most recently, Steve taught middle school science and marine biology at Rising Leaders Academy in Panama City, FL, one of the top ranked (upper 1%) middle schools in the state. Hurricane Michael and family needs brought him back to the south coast, where he’s happy to be once again exploring his natal fishing grounds.

Adeline Bellesheim is a Conservation Biologist from Sparta, New Jersey. Recently moving to Fall River, Adeline began working for the Lloyd Center as an Educator/Naturalist in July.

Adeline began her career after graduating from Arcadia University with a degree in Conservation Biology and brings a diverse background of experience to the Lloyd Center. She began her career working as a Conservationist with the National Park Service at Valley Forge National Historical Park in Pennsylvania. Adeline’s main focus was the removal and analysis of invasive species and overseeing forest regeneration in the park. She continued her career at the Nature Conservancy in New York City, studying tree health following salt water impacts from Hurricane Sandy. Adeline spent two years working as a Wetland Biologist for a consulting firm in New Jersey where she performed wetland delineations for soil, vegetation, and hydrology, along with threatened and endangered species assessments all over the country. Additionally, she worked for New York City’s Department of Parks and Recreation as a Forester studying tree health.

In her free time Adeline likes to kayak, hike, fish, play board games and sports. She also enjoys being a Trivia Host at restaurants around South Coast Massachusetts! Adeline is the proud mother of two beautiful cats and a handsome dog named Rocky.
