NBSO and Dinur Reach Agreement to Extend Contract Through 2024

Jul 2, 2019

The NBSO and Music Director Yaniv Dinur have reached an agreement to extend his tenure with the orchestra through the 2023-2024 season. NBSO President and CEO Dave Prentiss stated, "This new contract is a testament to the collaborative partnership Yaniv has forged with our musicians and the impact he is having in our community. We couldn't be more thrilled with what we have accomplished together so far, and are very excited about all that is going to happen next."

"I am excited and honored that the New Bedford Symphony would like to continue our collaboration. My family and I have been welcomed so warmly by the community of New Bedford, and I have been inspired by the musicians of the orchestra in every rehearsal and concert we've had," said Dinur, who is also Associate Conductor of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. "This orchestra has given me the opportunity to fulfill my vision of what a 21st-century orchestra can and should be, through playing daring programs, collaborating with some of the best guest artists of our time, and serving our community with our outstanding education program. I look forward to continuing all of that and much more in the seasons ahead."

The NBSO’s 2019-2020 concert schedule has just been announced, and Dinur has programmed another stellar season including the NBSO’s opening night and matinee in October when he will play and conduct from the keyboard Mozart’s D Minor Concerto. Dinur stated, “We are continuing our tradition of kicking off the new season with Mahler, and I also have the pleasure of playing piano for you. Matinee performances have been added for our classical concerts in October and April, and a family-friendly version of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf will take place in November. Two pops concerts round out this incredible season. We want you to come and have a great time, and then come back again!” Details on the 2019-2020 season can be found on the NBSO’s website: www.nbsymphony.org
