NBSO Audition Notice

The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra (NBSO) will be holding auditions for the following instruments: viola, principal/3rd horn (two positions), and 2nd bassoon in October 2022.

The New Bedford Symphony is an AFM affiliated, per-service orchestra based in the historic whaling capital of the world. The mission of the NBSO is to place the world’s finest music at the center of the cultural life of the South Coast of Massachusetts. The orchestra regularly performs under the direction of Maestro Yaniv Dinur at the Zeiterion Theater in New Bedford. Please see www.nbsymphony.org for more information.

The auditions will take place at the Masonic Temple in Cambridge, MA (1950 Massachusetts Ave in Porter Square).

Viola (up to 3 positions may be offered) on Monday, October 10

Principal Horn and Third Horn on Tuesday, October 11

Second Bassoon on Wednesday, October 12.

Times will be assigned on a rolling basis, first come first serve. Once available spots are filled, a waiting list will be established, and candidates will move from the waiting list to the audition list in the order their application was received. Auditionees should be prepared for the possibility of more than one round of auditions on the same day. If accepted for a position with the orchestra, candidates must provide proof of their affiliation with the Musician’s Union.
