One-day Painting Workshop at the MAC!

Mar 13, 2019

The Marion Art Center has added a second date on Saturday, March 23, 12-2pm for a one-day workshop, Expressive Landscape Painting with Acrylics with instructor John Irwin. Registration is only $30 for members and $35 for non-members - register online by clicking here.

(Students must supply their own brushes and acrylic paints: red, yellow, blue, white, and black.  Instructor will provide canvases for painting.)

Description:  In this one-day workshop, students are encouraged to paint rapidly using emotion and feeling to create works of art that will focus on atmosphere, movement, and energy.  Using photographs, drawings, and memory, students will complete their paintings during the 2-hour session.  Instructor John Irwin will take students step by step through the process, using live demonstrations, techniques, specialized brushes and other “tricks of the trade” he has learned through forty years of painting experience.

About the Instructor: John Irwin is a practicing artist who has been painting for many years.  He received his Associates Degree in Art from CCRI and is currently a teaching assistant in the East Providence school system.  John is pursuing his Bachelors degree at Providence college, and he is currently represented by Dryden Gallery in Providence.  He offers private art lessons and is also a reading tutor.

**Note: Students must be able to ascend/descend stairs in the MAC Studio.**
