SEMAYO Presents Music in the Parks Program

Jun 23, 2021

The Southeastern Massachusetts Youth Orchestras (SEMAYO), under the auspices of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, is thrilled to announce a partnership with the New Bedford Recreation Department to present Music in the Parks this summer!

Music in the Parks is a program where kids can come together and make music. Events will take place on Saturday mornings from 10:00 - 11:00 AM in the playground area of a different New Bedford Park each week.

Students who already play the violin, viola, cello or bass may join in, and students who do not play a stringed instrument can take advantage of the many percussion instruments that will be available. All are welcome to play along and explore something new, exciting, and fun!

The program will be led by Youth Orchestra Coordinator Charlene Monte, assisted by SEMAYO alumni Sarah Nichols, Lindsey Mello, and Bradley Palmer. The focus will be on chamber music, fiddle styles, and pop tunes.
