Signup for 1st Aid Class

May 13, 2019

An opportunity to learn the basics of First Aid is being offered to members of the public by STAT/Southcoast EMS, the preeminent first-responders for the town of Dartmouth for over thirty years. This two-hour class is for those who want to refresh their knowledge or for those who have never had a course in first aid, including teenagers.

The class will be offered twice at the Southworth Library (6/6 at 10AM;  6/8 at 2PM). Each class is limited to 16 people; therefore, a sign-up is necessary

Sign-up begins on Monday, May 13th at the Southworth Library Desk and continues until Wednesday, May 29th. Based on demand, an additional class may be offered on the afternoon of June 6th.

Skills that will be taught include the fundamentals of bleeding control, burn treatment and injury management, recognizing and responding to choking, drowning, potential stroke or heart attack, as well as current CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) techniques and AED (automated external defibrillator) use. Please note: no certifications are issued with this class

This important opportunity is free to the public and is sponsored by STAT/Southcoast EMS and the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries.
