SPOTLIGHT ON DAMIEN’S PANTRY’S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Jul 19, 2023

Damien’s Place Family Food Pantry is lucky to have Pauline Lally at the helm. When talking about her role as Executive Director, Pauline says, “The challenge is finding the most efficient and cost-effective methods to providing nutritious food for our guests.  This includes fundraising and applying for grants to raise the necessary funds to accomplish that goal.”

Pauline is from New Bedford where she grew up as one of seven children in a French speaking family.  She graduated from Bishop Stang High School and then went on to graduate from UMass Dartmouth with a degree in Accounting.  Pauline now resides in Lakeville where she likes to quilt and garden in what little free time she has.

Pauline had a long career at her father’s business, Piping Systems Inc., where she worked up through the ranks.  Eventually she purchased the business from her father, and in 1993 Piping Systems Inc. was designated as a Woman Owned Business.  Pauline began volunteering with Damien’s Pantry in 1996 and joined the Board of Directors in 2019.  She became Treasurer of the Board and eventually became the full-time Executive Director in January 2023.

Pauline says, “My desire to give back to the community is my primary motivation and I couldn’t have chosen a better place than Damien's.  I have been so blessed in my life and this is a small gesture of thanks for those blessings.  I also love a challenge!”

For Pauline, one of the pleasures of her work at Damien’s Place is getting to know the volunteers.  She says, “I enjoy working with all the dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to enhance our food distribution and help those who are experiencing food insecurity.”
