Beginner Wheel Throwing Class: Learn the basics of wheel throwing in this six week class! This class will cover techniques for forming small pots like mugs, tumblers, and bowls as well as surface design and glaze application! Students can expect to have at least four to six finished pieces by the end of the class. Begins November 4th.
Handmade Ornaments and Gifts: We will learn the basic of handbuilding with clay, and start by creating handmade ornaments for the holidays (or just for hanging from your windows all year round.) We will then create handbuilt planters and small trinket or soap dishes that great for holiday gifts, all using the slab building technique. Start your own seedlings for a planter now and create the most personalized gift imaginable! If you have an idea for a small gift to make, bring it with you to class. Begins November 6th.
Handbuilt Functional Pottery: We will create objects that are functional in nature, such as creating a mug with a comfortable grip or a bowl the size and shape that you prefer. We will meet you where your skill level is and add additional challenges for more advanced students. This is an introductory course in ceramic hand-building including coil building, slab rolling, molding and other techniques, focused on functional objects. The class will utilize hand building techniques to build a variety of forms including coil-built bowls or mugs, and functional slab-built mugs, trays, plates and bowls. Surface decoration will also be discussed. Students will have 4-6 finished pieces at the end of 6 weeks. Begins November 7th.
