Aug 11, 2023

New Bedford, MA—The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra (NBSO) and Music Director Yaniv Dinur have reached an agreement to extend his tenure with the orchestra through the 2028-2029 season. NBSO Board of Trustees Chairperson Sandria Parsons stated, "The news that Yaniv Dinur will be the Music Director of the NBSO through the 28/29 season is cause for celebration. We have come to know Yaniv as an innovative musician who leads his orchestra and his audience to new levels of appreciation in every concert program. We leave the concert venue realizing we have witnessed an orchestra conducted by a master of his art. The music resonates. Join us for opening night, on October 14th. See for yourself."

“New Bedford has become a second home to me over the past six years,” said Dinur. “I love the food, the ocean, the community, the drivers who stop for you to cross the street even though they have the green light. Most of all, I love working with the New Bedford Symphony. I am grateful to the orchestra for choosing to continue working together for another five years. We've achieved many extraordinary things together, and I feel lucky to have been a part of it. I can't wait for what the next half decade brings!”

The NBSO’s 2023-2024 concert schedule has just been announced and due to the renovation of the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, the concerts will take place in the Bronspiegel Auditorium at New Bedford High School. As in past seasons, Dinur remains committed to programming great music by women composers and people of color, as well as offering classical favorites such as Mozart and Beethoven. The 2023-24 guest artists include legendary pianist Sergei Babayan, the return of world-renowned pianist Katherine Chi, up-and-coming cellist Sydney Lee, plus NBSO concertmaster Jesse Holstein, principal violist Anna Griffis, and Artistic Director of the South Coast Chamber Music Series pianist Janice Weber.
