Alice Amaral, 87

Alice "Sexy Alice" (DeMello) Amaral, 87, of South Dartmouth, died Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Oak Hill Healthcare in Middleboro following a period of declining health. 

She was the widow of Deodato Amaral and daughter of the late Antone and Maria (Mascarinhas) DeMello.

Born in New Bedford, she resided in Dartmouth for most of her life and was a communicant of St. Mary Church in South Dartmouth.

Alice and Deodato were the owners of the former Captain Danny's Fish Market on Bolton Street in New Bedford. Later she was employed as a deli clerk at Buzzy's on Dartmouth Street until her retirement.

Alice loved to travel and enjoyed spending time at the Dartmouth Senior Center.

Her family includes her son, Daniel D. Amaral and his wife, Kathleen of Dartmouth; two daughters, Nancy L. DeFreitas and her husband Joe of New Bedford, and Lenora Cabral of St. Petersburg, Florida; seven grandchildren, Heather, Derrick, Keryn, Emma, Liam, Mae and Joey; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Tony DeMello, John DeMello, Jesse DeMello, Evelyn Cordeiro and Mary Serra.

Interment was in St. John Cemetery.
