Celebrate traditional East Asian dolls at the Southworth Library

Feb 18, 2022

In honor of the Japanese holiday of “Hina-matsuri,” the Southworth Library will host an exhibtion on East Asian dolls on March 3.

Dolls will come from the collection of Dartmouth resident Helen DeGroot, who collected the dolls from her past trips to China, Bali, Japan, and Thailand.

The opening coincides with Hina-matsuri, which is a traditional celebration for girls in Japan known as the “Doll Festival” or “Girls’ Day.”

The collection has been organized with the help of the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries and will be on display in the lower level of the library located at 732 Dartmouth St.
