College professor awarded federal research grant

Jun 4, 2018

University of Massachusetts Dartmouth professor Dr. Kevin Stokesbury has received funding from a federal grant competition for three different research projects.

Stokesbury, a Fisheries Oceanography teacher at the Marine Science and Technology campus, was awarded $302,091 through the Sea Scallop Research Set-Aside program. The program was created to answer questions related to management of the sea scallop resource.

The money will be used to continue sea scallop research near the Nantucket Lightship shoals, the deep-water passage between Nantucket and George's Bank, and select areas of the northern gulf of Maine.
