Dartmouth American team finishes in third place at Steele tourney
The Dartmouth American 12-and-under team finished in third place after losing twice to Runner-Up Wrentham.
Despite jumping out to an early lead in Sunday’s semifinal on Cole Pimental’s leadoff, first-pitch homer, Wrentham held an 11-2 lead entering the 6th inning.
After two early outs, Dartmouth scored six times and had the tying run at the plate in a furious comeback attempt that fell barely short.
Pimental’s second homer of the game was followed up by a tremendous blast from Ethan Moniz that plated Dartmouth’s final three runs.
Moniz led all hitters in the field with 13 hits and 11 RBIs and was named to the All-Tournament team for his efforts.
Dartmouth’s Dylan Pacheco was named the tournament’s “Best Pitcher” after tossing the weekend’s most dominant pitching performance Saturday night, shutting out a team from Greater New Bedford Little League.
Pacheco went the distance retiring 17 of 18 outs via strikeouts while only surrendering a pair of late singles. Dartmouth’s Ethan Moniz was selected to the tournament’s All Start team after posting a .591 average with three home runs, 11 RBIs, and 13 hits.
