Dartmouth girls are hooping it up after being named State Metrowest champions.

The Dartmouth seventh grade girls team defeated Lexington 40-24 March 11 to win the state Metrowest League title.

The girls are “fun to be around,’’ Coach Peter DeFusco said. He described the state title as “the cherry on top of the cake.’’

The team consists of “a bunch of hard-working girls who take basketball seriously. They have a really good bond. There’s no ego, they play for each other.’’

Team members are: Mae Amaral, Savannah Bettencourt, Lia Cojocaru, Kelsey DeFusco, Jade Kennedy, Jalana Lehning, Ava Makuch, Laney Matteson, Samantha Murphy, Allie O’Neil, Ella Sorensen.

The assistant coach is Ryan Matteson.
