Dartmouth High to host annual 5K

Sep 26, 2016

The fourth annual Go Big Green 5K will be held on Sunday, October 2 at Dartmouth High School.

Registration for the run/walk will open at 9 a.m. in the high school cafeteria, with the race start at 10 a.m.

The first 100 registrants will receive a free technical T-shirt and swag bag. The DHS Class of 2018 along with their advisors, Meg Rogers and Jess Lassey, are hosting this event to help offset the costs of senior week activities.

“We’re trying to foster community engagement and healthy habits for our kids,” said Lassey. Student-volunteers have tagged cars with race flyers, solicited donations to cover race costs from local business and, on race day, will be working water stops, directing runners, and assisting the timing company, 3C Race Productions.

“I’m excited that we have students volunteering to help out on race day as well as run,” said Rogers.

Last year 114 runners and walkers participated, and this year Rogers is hoping for at least 125 participants.
