Dartmouth Walmart now offering Covid vaccine, but no appointments available

Apr 13, 2021

Walmart is now offering the Covid-19 vaccine at locations across Massachusetts — including its Dartmouth outlet — starting this week, the company announced on April 9.

The multinational retailer had been offering vaccines in 48 states since April 2.

Although a message from the pharmacy at the Walmart located on 506 State Rd. confirmed it is giving shots, a message on the appointment scheduling website notes that the store is currently out of vaccine.

“We’re working hard to get more in stock,” the message reads. “In the meanwhile, please try another store in your area or check back later.”

WBZ Boston Channel 4 reported that some Walmart stores offer the Moderna vaccine, while others were set to offer the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

The US Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on April 13 that they are recommending providers pause the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after six recipients came down with blood clotting.

It is unclear if the vaccine that was being offered at the Dartmouth Walmart was the Johnson & Johnson shot.
