Eight local students receive Community Foundation scholarships

Seven students from Dartmouth High School and one student from Bishop Stang High School were among the scholarship recipients from the SouthCoast Community Foundation at a July 28 award ceremony. 

“Scholarship season is always a highlight for the Community Foundation,” director of engagement for the SouthCoast Community Foundation Sarah Rose said. “Giving deserving students the ability to further their education and enabling scholarship funders the ability to help those students realize their dreams is a win-win.

The following Dartmouth High School students received scholarships: Anya Crowell, $700, Ladies Branch of the New Bedford Port Society; Ashley White, $850, Ladies' Branch of the New Bedford Port Society; Lindsey Bedard, $1,250, College Club New Bedford Scholarship; Maxwell West, $5,000, Lipsky-Whittaker LGBTQ Scholarship; Morgan Oliveira, $7,226, Leo R. and Muriel A. Lanouette Scholarship Fund; Mya Leonardo, $1,215, Charles J. Lewin Interfaith Scholarship, $2,000, Jordan Alves Memorial Scholarship, $1,160, New Bedford Half Marathon Committee Scholarship Fund; Sarah Hartman, $1,215, Charles J. Lewin Interfaith Scholarship, $2,000 Trevor Alves Memorial Scholarship, $850, Ladies' Branch of the New Bedford Port Society.

Bishop Stang student Kiera Ackah received a $700 scholarship from Ladies' Branch of the New Bedford Port Society.
