First Dartmouth Day Event at Allendale Country Club

Apr 17, 2023

Three fire trucks lined up at Allendale Country Club in Dartmouth on April 15, but not for an emergency.

The trucks were there for “Dartmouth Day,” an event that brought kids and families to the country club.

Dartmouth resident Patrick Machado, said he brought his daughter, Elouise, for the “fire trucks, spiderman and facepaint.”

“We’re having a good time [and] the kids are having a fun time,” said Machado.

Elouise enjoyed her time exploring each of the fire trucks with help from Dartmouth fire fighters.

The event also had tables from Dartmouth Natural Resource Trust, Fun 107 and mini golf lessons. Allendale Country Club offered a free round of golf with a donation of $20 or more to the Dartmouth Youth Activities Association.

According to Allendale Country Club’s website, the goal of Dartmouth Day was to “organize a fun community event for all ages and raise funds for Dartmouth Youth Athletic Association initiatives.”

Dartmouth Youth Athletic Association manages seasonal baseball and basketball leagues for children.

According to Samantha Lawson, the Allendale Country Club’s operations manager, over $1,000 was raised for the association.

“Over 100 people came out to enjoy the festivities, whether it was golf, the fire trucks or the outdoor activities,” said Lawson. “It was good to see the community come together to celebrate Dartmouth and its resources.”

Allendale Country Club plans to make Dartmouth Day an annual event.
