Five-year-old girl abandoned for hours on bus to Kiddie Kampus
A 5-year-old girl from New Bedford was left on a bus bound for Kiddie Kampus Child Development Center for hours, Dartmouth Police confirmed.
The child was left on the bus after it returned to the Tremblay’s Bus Company lot in New Bedford, and was not discovered until about 2 p.m.
The girl’s father, Christopher Matton, told a WCVB reporter that his daughter was trapped there for hours “screaming and crying,” and urinated on the bus while waiting.
Det. Kyle Costa, spokesperson for Dartmouth Police, said it seemed to be a “serious oversight” on the part of the bussing company and Kiddie Kampus.
Kiddie Kampus and Tremblay’s Bus Company could not immediately be reached for comment, but Kiddie Kampus told WCVB in a statement: “We are thankful that the child is home safe with their family. We are grateful that there is a full investigation into this issue and will continue to be helpful in any way that we can.”
Criminal charges have not been filed, Costa said, and would not come from Dartmouth Police since the child was left in New Bedford. Police filed a report with state child services since the incident involved a minor.
