Friends Academy class of 2016 celebrates graduation

Thirty-five eighth grade students at Friends Academy were honored on June 8 with the annual class day festivities to mark graduation at the school. Proud parents, family members, and friends were treated to an afternoon of early summer weather with Head of School Stephen Barker, Head of Middle School Jamie Ross Cory, and Director of the Sally Borden Program Katherine Gaudet.

Class president Grace Mead of South Dartmouth addressed her class and was followed by Student Council President, Fiona Lonergan of Marion, who presented the class gift.

Fifth grade teacher Putnam Murdock was awarded the Claudia McClure Daggett Distinguished Service Award. Alumna, Maggie Nixon Caron, ’05, returned to help honor Katherine Roberts Gaudet, director of the Sally Borden Program on the occasion of her 20th anniversary. Gaudet was presented with a chair inscribed with the school seal.

The following Dartmouth residents graduated from Friends Academy: Hanna Franklin, who will be attending Proctor Academy; Paige Franklin, who will be attending Proctor Academy; Charlotte Gebhard, who will be attending Tabor Academy; Orly Gonsalves, who will be attending Dartmouth High School; Hannah Hemingway, who will be attending Lincoln School; Julia Klein, who will be attending Dartmouth High School; Leah Kleinfeld, who will be attending Tabor Academy; Eleanor Mallick, who will be attending Miss Porter’s School; Grace Mead, who will be attending Tabor Academy; Sophie Robinson, who will be attending Providence Country Day School; Trey Sullivan, who will be attending Moses Brown School; Ethan Sweeney, who will be attending Tabor Academy; David Sylvia III, who will be attending Providence Country Day School; Anthony Vallone, who will be attending Portsmouth Abbey School; Peter Veale, Jr., who will be attending Moses Brown School; and Diego Velazquez, who will be attending Westwood High School.
