Here’s what the Council on Aging has planned in May
Although the Council on Aging has suspended its events, programs and classes at the senior center, it is still providing services to Dartmouth residents in need. Here are the COA services that will continue through May.
Stay connected
The Dartmouth Council on Aging is working to provide essential items to elderly and other vulnerable residents during the coronavirus pandemic so that high-risk people can stay home and stay safe during these unprecedented times.
Residents in need of food, supplies, or a volunteer to pick up groceries can contact the COA at (508) 999-4717.
Council on Aging Newsletter
The COA newsletter is available on the Town of Dartmouth website. Visit town.dartmouth.ma.us and click on ‘Departments’ and then ‘Council on Aging’. Look for the latest newsletter in the left-hand menu. Otherwise, please call (508) 999-4717 and provide your email or mailing address to be added to the mailing list.
The R-U-OK Program
This is a free telephone calling service provided by the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department, which will call individuals’ homes at around the same time each day to check in. Applications are available at the COA, or by calling (508) 994-8932 or (888) 809-8932.
Meals on Wheels
The Elderly Nutrition Meals on Wheels Program provides a hot lunch time meal for delivery to seniors in need. For more information about receiving Meals on Wheels, contact Coastline at (508) 999-6400.
Justice Bridge
For legal advice, the COA recommends reaching out to the Justice Bridge Legal Center, a UMass Law affiliate that can be reached by calling (508) 449-9296 or emailing info@justicebridge.org.
