Keep the fourth fun, says Police Department

Jun 29, 2023

With the Fourth of July comes fireworks and with fireworks comes fun. The Dartmouth police department hopes to keep the holiday fun with some safety reminders.

The police encourage people to only attend organized and permitted fireworks displays and report the use or sale of illegal fireworks to the police to reduce injury and fires.

Remember that fireworks are dangerous, so children and people under the influence of drugs or alcohol should stay away.

The holiday also brings more people out after dark, so be mindful of pedestrians and use your seatbelt. The police department reminds people to drive sober and report impaired drivers to 911.

“From 2017 to 2021, 1,460 drivers were killed in motor vehicle crashes over the Fourth of July holiday period — 38% of the drivers killed were drunk.”

To report any law violations call the Dartmouth Police Department at 508-910-1700.
