Choosing to throw something away is only half the battle — figuring out where it goes is just as hard.

To help navigate this daunting task, the Cultural Center will be hosting a series of speakers on June 29 at 6 p.m.

The event will feature Marissa Perez-Dormitzer, the waste reduction manager for the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District, and her colleague Meg Hebert, the waste reduction coordinator.

After the presentation, several community organizations will be on hand to talk recycling and waste options. Bay State Textiles will be there to talk about keeping textiles out of the state’s waste. Bushwood Tailors will speak about up-cycling, tailoring and mending garments. And zero-waste store Start at the Bottom is available to talk about reducing plastic use.

The event is free, but registration is recommended at dartmouthculturalcenterinc.org.
