Local youth baseball team wins second place in American Athletic Union Gold Division

On Sunday, June 11, the Dartmouth Youth Activities Association’s 10-year-old baseball team competed in the Final Four of the American Athletic Union’s Gold Division, defeating #1 seed Brigade Baseball and advancing to the Championship game later in the day.

Dartmouth qualified for the playoffs by finishing 10-2 as one of 12 teams from a pool of over 50.  Dartmouth won their pool on Saturday, June 10th which led to the semifinal game against Brigade to advance to the championship. 

At the championship game, DYAA fell to the Gateway Gladiators 8-5. 

The team competes in the Northeast region of AAU, which includes teams from MA, RI and CT and is made up of all Dartmouth youth who also compete in the DYAA recreational program. Members are selected by tryouts in August and practice together almost year-round.

Head Coach Dan Snell congratulated team members Maddox Snell (pitcher, catcher, 2nd base, 3rd base), Alec Cuff (pitcher, catcher, shortstop), Jamesly Sard (pitcher, 1st base, 3rd base), TJ Duphily (shortstop, 2nd base, catcher, pitcher), Lucas Diaz (catcher, 3rd Base), Jack Garth (outfield, 3rd base), Leo Grochmal (pitcher, 1st base), Owen Valois (pitcher, outfield), Austin Rebello (outfield), Henry Wilkinson (outfield), Dominic Medeiros (outfield, 2nd base) and Travis, Teves (outfield) for a job well done.

Coach Snell also wishes to thank assistant coaches Dave Cuff, Chris Garth, David Wilkinson, Eric Medeiros and Ethan Cleveland for their hard work and dedication to the team throughout the season.
