A New Bedford man wanted on charges in New York was arrested on March 28 at Apponagansett Beach.

According to Dartmouth police, officers were conducting a property check of the Gulf Road beach at 12:45 a.m. when they noticed two people sitting in a car in the parking lot. As the park has time restrictions, the officer investigated further.

The officer identified one of the people as Angel DeJesus Rodriguez, 32, of New Bedford. The officer also discovered he had an active warrant out of Suffolk County, New York for dangerous drugs.

Rodriguez was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice.
