Officials to work out differences with Board of Public Works

Aug 8, 2022

Following heated discussion over the town’s new sewer and water rates, the Select Board is looking to have more open communication and collaboration with its appointed boards.

At its Aug. 8 meeting, Town Administrator Shawn MacInnes said he, along with Select Board Chair David Tatelbaum and member Shawn McDonald had a “very productive and positive meeting” with the Board of Public works about ways to keep officials and the public informed about their decisions.

During the previous Select Board meeting, McDonald expressed frustration over the Board of Public Works making such a significant vote on the new rates “in a vacuum.”

Moving forward, McDonald said the Board of Public Works will hold workshops to help residents understand their rationale. The new rates will also be reviewed by both boards in six months.
