Planning Board recommends Harbor Plan

Feb 26, 2019

The Planning Board recommended the passage of the Harbor Plan at its Feb. 25 meeting after a lengthy conversation with assistant town counsel Brian Cruise about whether or not members would have to recuse themselves from a vote that may or may not be required.

Cruise was unable to find anything in the town’s laws that would require the Planning Board to vote to approved the Harbor Plan.

In the absence of a formal vote, members agreed to recommend the plan’s approval by the Select Board.

The plan, developed by the University of Massachusetts Boston Urban Harbors Institute, includes a study into the current state of the harbor and its management alongside recommendations for the future of the harbor. The plan will be presented to the Select Board on March 25.
