Police: Car break-ins on the rise
The Dartmouth Police Department is warning residents to remain vigilant amid an increase in car break-ins.
According to Detective Kyle Costa, the department has noticed an uptick in reports of car break-ins around town in the past week, particularly in the area of south Dartmouth.
Costa offered several safety tips for residents. Make sure car alarms are active, he said, and that doors are locked when you're away from your vehicle.
Park only in well-lit areas, and if you leave valuables in the car, don't leave them in sight, Costa added.
Costa said that residents with home security systems should review their footage every day, even if they are not the victims of break-ins.
“We’re encouraging people to keep an eye out,” Costa said.
No arrests have been made yet, said police.
