Quinn School closed on Monday due to Covid quarantines

Dec 19, 2020

Quinn Elementary School will be closed on Monday, Dec. 21 due to staffing issues related to Covid-19 isolation for contacts of three new community members who have tested positive for the virus, according to an announcement circulated to parents from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bonny Gifford.

Students in Cohort B, virtual academy students, and special education students who normally attend school daily will be learning remotely, the announcement noted.

The three new positive cases are in addition to the 10 active cases among Quinn students and staff listed in the public school Covid data released on Dec. 18.

Dartmouth’s School Committee discussed the possibility of temporarily returning to fully remote learning at a Dec. 15 emergency meeting in which Public Health Director Chris Michaud stated that January will likely be another “tough” month for the illness, due to an expected uptick in cases as families come together for the holidays.

Officials said the committee will likely make a decision on the matter at the next meeting on Dec. 21, or during the break.
