Robert A. Ramos, 60, of Dartmouth passed away Friday March 6, 2020 after a long illness.

Born in New Bedford, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life and was a graduate of Dartmouth High School.

Robert was formerly employed as a corrections officer with the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office.

He was a former Golden Gloves Championship boxer and had been a youth boxing trainer at the Boys and Girls Club of New Bedford.

He is survived by his son, Tanner Rosa of New Bedford; his companion, Lela Anderson of New Bedford; his siblings, Jeffrey Ramos of New Bedford, Patricia Henderson and her husband Darry of Stoughton, and Russell Almeida and his wife Veronica of Pearland, Texas; and his nieces and nephews, Justine Ramos, Jared Correia, Tamika Correia, and Logan Almeida.

He was predeceased by his parents, John Ramos, Virginia (Monteiro) Almeida, and Antone Almeida.

His funeral will be held on Thursday March 12, 2020 at 8 a.m. from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.
