Sign up for Hazardous Waste Day

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Day will take place on May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Crapo Hill Landfill, 300 Samuel Barnet Boulevard, New Bedford.

For the first time, sign up is required. Visit gnbrrmdistrict.org to select a time slot.

Those dropping off hazardous waste are asked to arrive as close to their selected time slot as possible. If you do not have internet access, call (774) 503-0254 to sign up.

The event is open to New Bedford, Dartmouth, and Freetown residents only. Proof of residency is required.

To hold this event safely during the pandemic, participants must wear masks and place materials in their trunk, pickup truck bed, or back of their SUV.

  • Materials will not be accepted from seats of vehicles or handed to staff.
  • Stay in vehicle. Anyone exiting a vehicle will be asked to leave.
  • NO LATEX PAINTS. Dry latex paint out and throw it away in the regular trash.

Examples of accepted waste include oil-based paints, paint thinner, pesticides, gasoline, and kerosene.

Examples of unaccepted waste include motor oil, antifreeze, fluorescent light bulbs, TVs, and propane tanks. Take these items to your transfer station.

Residents can bring a maximum of 25 gallons or 25 pounds of hazardous waste. Collection is for households only. No businesses, schools, or contractors.
