Spring owl prowl with the Lloyd Center

Mar 19, 2021

The Lloyd Center for the Environment will be holding a spring owl prowl at its 430 Potomska Road property on Monday, March 29 from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.

Lloyd Center Research Associate Jamie Bogart will be leading the nighttime prowl, starting from the center’s lower parking lot.

With warming temperatures comes improved chances of witnessing other bird species in addition to owls. Some waterbirds may be active at the estuary, and osprey have started to arrive.

The group will also pause to watch the moon rise.

Prices are $10 for members, $13 for non-members, and half price for children 10-12.

Attendees are limited to 15 people aged 10 and up.

Participants should bring (if available) binoculars, camera, and flashlight, and wear footwear for light walking on forest trails, and possibly snow.

In case of inclement weather, the prowl will take place on Tuesday, March 30.

To prevent the spread of Covid-19, masks and social distancing will be required.

Pre-registration is required by noon on March 29. Pre-register online at lloydcenter.org/calendar.
