The Southeastern Regional Transit Authority is expanding its “Try Transit” program, which offers free bus fare for a limited time. 

In past years, the program ran through the holidays, but from Jan. 1 to June 30, 2024, SRTA buses will not cost riders a cent.

Extra state funding will also allow SRTA to offer Sunday service during the same time period. 

SRTA’s Intercity route runs to and from Fall River and New Bedford, making stops throughout Dartmouth along Route 6 and down to UMass Dartmouth. The Dartmouth Street route runs from downtown New Bedford to Big Value Plaza in Dartmouth. The Dartmouth Mall route runs around Dartmouth Mall and up to Hawthorn Medical Associates, then to downtown New Bedford.
