Friday, June 21

Summer stroll
Don’t miss the chance to catch the dynamic sights of Demarest Lloyd State Park during the Summer Solstice Plover Stroll on June 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  
Attendees will be invited to explore the vegetated sand spit at the mouth of Slocum River where endangered shorebirds nest.
The stroll will also bring attendees along the estuary, salt marsh and forest areas where bird species such as oystercatchers, willets, ospreys and waders are expected to be seen.  
Participants are encouraged to bring birding equipment, bug spray, and appropriate walking footwear.
Online registration is $10 for non-members and $8 for members.

Brown-bag for birders
The Massachusetts Audubon Society will host an informal brown-bag lunch gathering on Friday, June 21 from 12-1:30 p.m at Stone Barn Farm, 786 Horseneck Road. The theme for the community gathering is “Community Science Projects and Updates.” On display will be ways to collect data that’s useful to researchers and resource managers such as Osprey Watch, Nest Watch, Monarch Watch, and Bay Watchers.
Those interested are encouraged to RSVP at this link. However, reservation is not required.

Tuesday, June 25 

Paddle on Slocum River
Join the DNRT for a scenic paddle down Slocum River on Tuesday, June 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The meeting location is set for Russell’s Mills Landing, located at 50 Horseneck Road.
Attendees must bring their own kayak or paddleboard and must wear a life persevere and sign a waiver.

Wednesday, June 26

A house with stories
The Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society is hosting a presentation on an old Dartmouth home on Russells Mills Road on Wednesday, June 26 at 6:30.
The presentation will be given at 1205 Russells Mills Road by Annabelle Persson.
Persson has completed extensive research she will share on the home located at 288 Russells Mills Road, which is owned by her grandparents.
There is a $5 suggested donation and light refreshments will be served.

Thursday, June 27

Don’t be crabby
The second presentation of Mass Audubon South East’s Summer Speaker Series will be hosted at the Stone Barn in Dartmouth on Thursday, June 27 from 7 p.m to 8 p.m.
Sara Grady, a Mass Audubon senior coastal ecologist, will discuss horseshoe crabs for International Horseshoe Crab Day. This is a “sea-shanty-filled program,” with Grady not only speaking, but also singing about the natural history and biology of the crabs along with their conservation and management.
