Tuned into the trees with gratitude at the Lloyd Center

Sep 22, 2024

For its fourth year, the Lloyd Center for the Environment’s Music in the Woods event returned, bringing an array of classical and folksy tunes. Though the event was rained out on Saturday, attendees were able to come the following Sunday, Sept. 22.

“It’s a thank you for our members,” said Rachel Stronach, executive director of the Lloyd Center. Given that the center relies heavily on its members’ support, she said this is their way of giving back.

It also acts as a way for non-members to test out the five miles of hiking trails, 82 acres with some music, she said. Oftentimes, those individuals didn’t realize everything available and decide to join.

“One of the draws for us is it’s a different way to get people outside and in the woods and enjoying our property,” Stronach said. “I know thousands of people hike on our trails every year — this is just a different way to do that.”

Attendees of this year’s music festival also got the opportunity to tour the new Welcome Center

Usman Ijaz, a volunteer with the Lloyd Center, said this was his second Music in the Woods, adding how he truly enjoys them.

“It’s really beautiful getting out here in the outdoors and listening to music,” he said. “It kind of reminds me of the Titanic, but in a different setting.”

“It’s interesting to see all these different musicians come out, enjoy the weather and it’s in harmony with nature,” Ijaz said. “There’s nothing better than that.
