For the ninth year in a row, the U.S. News & World Report named UMass Dartmouth one of the top national and public universities in the country in their annual Best College Rankings, the university announced on Sept. 24.

The university placed in several undergraduate categories, highlighted by top rankings and sharp rises in three of its largest majors, according to the university.

UMass was also ranked 102 out of all U.S. institutions in social mobility, which measures how well a school graduates economically disadvantaged students, the university said.

The computer science undergraduate program climbed 84 spots this year to rank 126th out of 584 programs, the data showed.

This ties the program with the University of Rhode Island as the third highest-ranked bachelor’s computer science among public universities in New England and second among Massachusetts public universities, the university said.

The psychology major now ranks 164th in the country, climbing up 70 spots and tying as the fifth highest ranked public university in Massachusetts with the University of New Hampshire, according to the rankings. 

The university maintained its status as one of the top 10% nursing programs in the country, ranking 74th out of 686 qualifying programs, the rankings showed.

For the third year in a row, more than 96% of nursing majors were employed or enrolled in graduate programs within six months of graduating.

“These prestigious rankings show that our university is preparing students well for impactful careers in industries that meet important societal and economic needs in our region and nationally,” said Chancellor Mark A. Fuller.
