They’ve already rolled out the welcome mat — now step inside.
On Friday, Sept. 20, the Lloyd Center for the Environment is opening up its new Welcome Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event starts at 11 a.m. at 430 Potomska Road.
The Welcome Center was constructed to greet, orient and introduce students and visitors to the Lloyd Center. The building houses a variety of features, including a bus drop-off shelter, interior and exterior meeting and teaching spaces, rain gardens and composting restrooms.
Over 1,000 students from the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School constructed the center. According to the center, this makes the building the only one in the world constructed solely by students.
