On Sunday, February 2, the Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society will present a lecture by historian Bob Harding on an old Dartmouth Quaker family whose name has has virtually disappeared from the area.

Their name has been preserved in early Friends records as Amarahow, Merrihew, or Merithew, with links to the Irish Gaelic name “Murphy.”

At this talk, Harding will present his research into primary records from Friends and Dartmouth Town meetings, land records, and genealogists to preserve the contributions of this early family in enhancing the history of the town.

The lecture will take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Russells Mills Schoolhouse, 1205 Russells Mills Road.

The Society will provide light refreshments and suggest a $5 donation for those attending.
