Youth basketball team on a roll after recent wins

Feb 12, 2019

The Dartmouth Youth Activities Association basketball season is winding down, but the Celtics Pony League team is fired up for a tournament run.

The team earned its tenth win on Feb. 11, bringing the season record to 10-2.

The 27-12 victory over the Bulls puts the Celtics on the top spot in the DYAA's seven-team Pony Division. It is one of four divisions in the DYAA’s youth basketball program, which are broken up based on age.

“It went excellent, and the kids played extremely hard,” said Celtics coach John Aubertine. “I couldn’t have asked for anything more. That’s the staple of our team.”

The team struggled early on, but was quick to find its grove, both in scoring in defense.

“We play hard, we struggled to score a little bit but we always play defense.”

Looking ahead, Aubertine and his team are preparing for the February vacation tournament as the season wraps up.
