Geneva “Gigi” (Bernat) Ferreira, 83, of Dartmouth died Sunday, Sept. 27 at McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich following a period of declining health. She was the wife of Antone Ferreira for 62 years and daughter of the late Walter Bernat, Sr. and Louise (Janik) Bernat.

Born in New Bedford, Mrs. Ferrera resided in Dartmouth for most of her life.

She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo. Many years ago she was employed as an assembler at Cornell Dubilier

Her family includes her husband, Antone; two daughters, Gail A. Sylvia of New Bedford and Jean M. Ferreira of South Dartmouth; one brother, Fredryck Bernat and his wife, Lucille, of North Dartmouth; three grandsons, Joshua, Derek and Matthew, three great-grandchildren, Kailee, Ava and Donovan and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Walter Bernat, Jr., Wanda Carvalho and Irene “Cookie” Andrade.

Visiting hours in the funeral home will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. in the funeral home with prayers at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Dartmouth.
